How to build an inexpensive Underwater Camera Housing
Hey guys! I made a Step-by-Step Guide to make an underwater housing for a camcorder. Since I wanted to keep the costs down, I decided not to buy one, but rather to build a cheap one from scratch! You can get all the parts at ACE hardware. Remember to test your housing for leaks before you put in a camera! Visit us at: www.marinebud.com – Videos – Tutorials – Marine survival – and more…

I just got an underwater case for my flip camcorder, and so here is a video of my brother and sister and I testing it out in our pool! XD Enjoy!

@meniged its called abs I make aquarium decor with it go to homedeopt or rona or wahtever
This is a good video. if you want to buy a housing, themost low cost and reliable is the Nemo 200 which can go to 150 feet and takes many size cameras and costs $249. go to nemohousing (dot) com
where did you get the black pipes?
That was a seriously slow and tedious video dude!! Most of the talking was super redundet. What cameras are you using and how did you actually fit the camera inside?
Great tutorial!
I think that this is a great guide. I just finished building mine and am going to test it tomorrow in the pool to see how it stands up at a depth of around 15′. If it works I am taking it to the springs around here and will put the camera in it. Ran into a few snags though:
The twist top that is used for access leaks significantly and I am having to put 5 or 6 layers of the threading tape one but this makes it difficult to screw and unscrew.
I also had a very difficult time cutting the plexi.
That is awsome man. pretty much flawless. Im not trying to ruin your thing at all man this is great but i just have a suggestion. you could attach one or two plastic handles on the top or sides for underwater handling
)
hey, awesome video. check out my test video
@MrSpicy714 You bet it will go a couple feet
Used mine at about 60 feet and got some amazing footage. Remember to always test the housing before you use it with your camera
Hey man. Great video! Im gonna make one of these pretty soon here and I was just wondering how deep you have gone with yours. Im hoping it will go a couple feet at least. Thanks for the idea!
take your camera and push record and put it in a waterproof bag that you can rack at dicks sport shop lol IT WORKS
amazing video
@sony561 Velcro
sooo can we see the footage?
How do you get the camera to sit still without rolling around?
how do you keep the camera next to the lens?
@youlosez ….. No idea, but if I get a different camera in the near future, I will probably get one that has a wireless remote. Then seal the remote in a couple of plastic bags with glue, that way I can have full access to controls, including zoom. Just an idea.
@matheus11397 …. I built mine yesterday…. cost $27 and some change with silicone, glue and material.
@waveriderz …. I thought of the same thing. I simply just cut back the front housing about an inch and a quarter, bringing the lens closer from the outer ring.
Awesome idea…. just built mine yesterday. Field tested it… no leaks! Gonna try the real thing in the pool next weekend. If all is good, then we go snorkeling! Thank you very much! Total cost with silicone and supplies was $27 and some change!
cool
sweet idea dude. how deep was your field test? and are you mounting the camera inside or just resting it in there?
